Andy Manuel Herrera Reyes of the Dominican Republic is an eleven years old guy, who has gone through more than five heart surgeries despite his early age. He has also spent more than a year connected to the ECMO machine.  . The ECMO machine is generally used for 1-2 weeks to allow the heart and lungs to recover from post-surgery doing their job on an artificial way. . Because of his love of life, Andy has spent more than a year connected to it until, a few months ago, that he recieved his hoped heart. Now, his doing quite well on his recovery, although it is taking him a while and  his life has restarted as his family confessed.Â
The reason why his case has become so popular, is as a consequence of social media. Since a few years ago, her mother has been running an Instagram account to raise awarness about his son’s situation as well as to gain funds for all the expensive medical treatments this young boy has gone through.
His particular case has been supported by many famous people, who constantly send him supporting messages which undoubtedly, are one of Andy’s main reasons to still fight for his life.
